We discuss the value of Vitamin D in treating ulcerative colitis, an inflammation of the lining of the intestine. This is quite different than the virtual blackballing of the value of this Vitamin D, which also has valuable general anti-inflammation properties. The fact that we can absorb Vitamin D from the sun can critically depend on the functioning of the individual’s kidneys- so this method of taking in Vitamin D may not be enough. Yes, it is possible for people living together in close quarters and actually share the contents of their microbiomes or gut bacteria.
